- First Verify whether the below specification is as per expectation or not.
- Pencil Type (Graphite pencils, Solid graphite pencils, Liquid graphite pencils etc.)
- Pencil Design (Height, Width)
- pencil brand name and Logo
- Pencil Material
- Pencil Point types
- Pencil outer body (colour, Shape)
- Pencil Weight
- Verify the feel of the pencil first (user is able to hold it without any Hassel or not)
- Check whether the user is able to write with a pencil or not.
- Check that the user is able to read the text written with a pencil.
- Check that the user is able to write on the different types of paper or surfaces with a pencil or not.
- Verify whether the darkness/colour of the text written by pencil is as per requirement or not.
- Verify the strength of lead it should not break when a specified(normal human) pressure is applied.
- Verify that the user is able to erase the text written by pencil with a normal eraser.
- Verify whether the strength and quality of the wood used for the pencil are as per specification or not.
- Check that the pencil can be sharpened easily by a normal sharpener.
- Verify with a pencil how many meters you can write.
- Verify the hardness and softness of the outer body of the pencil.
- Check if the pencil contains an eraser on top.

There are 20 different degrees of hardness of artistic pencils:
EE, 12B, 8B, 7B, 6B, 5B, 4B, 3B, 2B, B, HB, F, H, 2H, 3H, 4H, 5H, 6H, 7H, 8H, 9H, and 4 degrees of hardness of normal pencils (from 1 to 4). The pencil identified as a number 1 is related to soft 2B, pencil no. 3 – HB, no. 3 – hard H, and no. 4 -3H
